Tech Bro on Tech Bro Crime? What the Assassination of "Crazy Bob" Lee Reveals
Well, well, well...
If you’d read this Substack you’d know already what Silicon Valley is just now discovering — that Bob “Crazy Bob” Lee was assassinated not by some wayward homeless man as was surmised but by a hitman who stabbed him.
Fittingly the news was discovered by the very local news that Silicon Valley — and Andreessen Horowitz in particular — has tried to snuff out.
Naturally there were a number of people who had real egg on their faces, including Richard Hanania who bet that the killer wasn’t an immigrant.
In point of fact he was an “Iranian executive” who worked for “Expand IT” whatever that is. I prefer the more common term — “assassin.”
Sure we can pretend that Nima Momeni is a tech executive and not in any way ties into Iranian intelligence/organized crime despite working for a front business.
You might joke but that’s certainly becoming a more and more common thing. One Turkish biotech executive is facing murder-for-hire charges.
As the Chinese money leaves Silicon Valley will we see things get really crazy?
There’s a much darker thought lurking here: what if Bob Lee and his drug fueled lifestyle isn’t the exception but the norm?
We explored that too in a podcast I hosted with a friend who was also a tech executive and friend of Bob Lee.
I find it a stretch to think that this guy was somehow linked to Iranian intelligence given that he worked at SFGATE back in 2006! That would be some deep cover shit. I would apply Occam’s razor to this and suggest a way more straightforward explanation for two guys getting into it at 2:45AM.
