Policy on Paid Subscribers and Odds and Ends

As many of you know I have discussed whether or not to monetize this Substack.

I was on the fence about it and talked with friends and family about it.

A well to do retired friend told me that '“[while] you don’t need the money let us help fund the cause.”

I think that’s a good way of putting it. And given that a lot of people have pledged money to this effort, I thought it would be wise to take it and press it into the service of this cause.

Here are is my main policy:

All posts are freely available to all for forever. I personally won’t take any money from the subscription revenue. I have more than enough personally.

Contribute what you can.

There are lots of ways to contribute to this effort. Do your own research, share the posts, and encourage others to subscribe.

I chat often with subscribers in the Substack about the kinds of content they’d like to see.

For paid subscribers I’ll likely do a weekly call starting in February.

As we head into the 2024 cycle I’ll also be doing research on the major candidates as they present themselves.

I’m talking with a friend about doing a podcast and we will have more details on that at a later date. I really hate the sound of my own voice, though!
