Well, it didn’t quite come to pass. The dreams of a Fat Man presidency are dashed. And they died in Israel.
For all his tough talk Chris Christie was unwilling to say publicly what he knows in his heart — that Trump is a symptom not a cause of GOP weakness.
It’s not enough to blame Trump; you have to offer an alternative to his way of being. That starts with skepticism of Zionism, not a full-throated defense.
Christie failed to make the case because he doesn’t understand the cause of Trump’s strength. Trump has captured the rage and the imagination of an echelon of American society. Christie might have captured their soul — is this not plagiarism of Joe Biden’s “fight for the soul of America,” Mr. Ackman, a Christie donor? — but he doesn’t know where to look for it. You’ll find it, right there, in the Declaration of Independence, Governor — that “all men are created equal.” Trump then isn’t uniquely evil or the second savior. He’s just another man in a long list of them who have quested after power.
“We know we’re right, but they don’t want to hear it,” said Christie in one of the greatest hot mic moments since “nobody f—s with a Biden.” I wish that that hot mic was strategic but I somewhat doubt it. That would be a level of being cleverness that had hitherto eluded his campaign.
But the hot mic was revelatory. Christie was “punching about his weight” and giving a good “return on investment” for the donors. Sure enough, Christie was to some extent compromised totally by his donors too who consisted of those trying to make right with the Feds
You’re not right, Governor. Disliking Trump isn’t enough. It was never enough.
Until such a point as the Republican Party can squarely talk about all the way it has compromised itself to appease foreign and commercial interests it has no business as a national party of a great country.
The GOP began with slavery and now it is ending as a cult, enslaved to Donald J. Trump’s foreign funders. Whatever hope we might have had of having a fed clean up the GOP dies with Christie’s prospects.
The responsible thing for Christie to do now is to endorse Joe Biden for President. He must encourage Biden to finish the job he started with Jared’s father: Jail Jared and the network around him.
The tunnels under Chabad’s headquarters are a metaphor for what’s been allowed to happen. After all, isn’t Kushner Chabad? He is! Wasn’t Epstein? Oh, you think it was an accident that Epstein named the beneficiary of his will his brother and his Belarussian gal pal? Did you even know that Chabad is dominant in Belarus?
When Christie joins Biden in the fight he will be a legend. As it stands he is an asterisk and perhaps a question mark.
The Republican Party platform of 1856 opposed the twin barbarisms of our time — slavery and polygamy — because they undermined the natural equality of man.
If all men are created equal then you can’t really have slavery or the clannishness of large families working for their interests over the American one.
Zionism is now occupying the same place that slavery and polygamy did. To defend Zionism we are being forced to contort ourselves into monstrous versions of our principles. We risk making a mockery of ourselves.
However promising Zionism might have been at the beginning — FDR was not a Zionist and believed America was the best place for the Jews — it has outlived its usefulness and is now an active threat to our standing in the world.
Our willingness to ignore the least of these — the Palestinians — has meant a more unstable world as the events of October 7th have taught only too well. Our willingness to ignore the desperate cries of the Palestinians for human dignity are not in keeping with the stories we tell ourselves. “We are the friend of liberty everywhere but custodian only of our own,” said John Quincy Adams, but we have allowed vast chunks of America to be essentially ungovernable because we are not willing to look organized crime straight in the face and take it down.
Christie talks about the hostages in the Hamas tunnels but he doesn’t ever mention that Hamas was funded by Netanyahu. To some extent Christie can’t. Bill Ackman was a donor and Christie needed the money to wage his campaign.
President Erdogan says Turkish intelligence agency responded to the Israel’s threats by exposing Israeli vast espionage network in Turkey: “It seriously surprised Israel. Just wait, these are the first steps. You will get to know Turkey very well!”
Well, get on with it then! Might I recommend cleaning up Missouri? Oh and what about Florida which is under occupation ever since those Surfside condominiums went down?
The relationship of Israel to organized crime around the world has always been there but in recent years it’s gotten totally out of control and undermined America’s relationships. Israel has helped to destabilize the rules-based order wherever it operates.
“I can’t believe I have to say this, but Palestinian people are not disposable,” Rashida Tlaib said on the floor of Congress. “We are human beings. Just like anyone else.”
Republican candidates should be asked, “where is the Palestinian exception to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness?”
