"Israel's Other Occupation": "King Bibi" and His Willing American Accomplices
How America's Jewish oligarchs helped Netanyahu end accountability and democracy in Israel
In our recent pieces on Likud asset-turned-venture capitalist Keith Rabois we didn’t do him total justice. Perhaps there can be no real justice until the Department of Justice helps us clean out the compromised tech companies and their VCs — or at least turns them to useful ends.
Yeah, I’m not holding my breath either.
Still there are many Likud activists and assets throughout American life whose sole job is to defend “King Bibi” in the American discourse. I’ve elsewhere seen this group called the Hasbara brigade.
Many of these ethnic Jews have substituted Israel for a robust commitment to their own Jewishness — and Bibi Netanyahu has played them expertly.
Some of these types did so because they are fifth columnists. Others did it out of greed or misplaced loyalty or some combination. But all perpetuate what I’ve called Israel’s Other Occupation, or, if you prefer, Israel’s rule by oligarchs for oligarchs at the expense of ordinary Israelis. It, too, has real costs.
And it has real heroes too.
That, as much as anything was what the Israelis marching in the streets were protesting this past week.
At some point you’re left wondering if, perhaps, America’s longstanding commitment to Israel is masking some ugly behavior on the part of Netanyahu and his American allies — if Israel’s status as our “greatest ally” is being used for a more sinister agenda.
The corruption is incredible when taken in as some recent headlines will evince. This is but a smattering. It’s by no means totally inclusive.
Among the more fascinating things in contemporary politics is how much of our sense making about the Middle East has first gone through a Likud-financed filter.
Many, many, many of the publications, especially on the right, come from Jewish-American coffers.
This is why billionaire Barre Seid, for example, is backed with Chinese-Israeli cash and why he is a major contributor to Real Clear Politics and its foundations. To achieve an occupation you must compromise the sense making apparatus.
When “King Bibi” falls there must be a reckoning for all the Americans who supported his criminal government and its operations on January 6th, Brazil, and around the world.
Collective punishment is always wrong. That’s why I’ve long opposed both the treatment of the Palestinians and the Israeli boycotts. But the solution isn’t to boycott Israel but to boycott Bibi — and his willing American accomplices. Yes, it’s time to actively put pressure on Bibi’s American supporters. We need to know if the Lauder family still supports Netanyahu’s illegal assault on the Israeli courts.
They call him “King Bibi.” Well, we topple kings. Rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God. You might even call it an American motto.
And yet what do we do with the tyrant’s willing accomplices? They too must meet justice and each of us can do our part. For the safety of the world order, we need to start developing software to help those committed to Middle East peace to screen out companies who sever only to prolong conflict and bedlam.
Reading that list now, those donors could easily be seen as a who’s who of any 2024 GOP Super Pac.
We must also begin the process of ridding the American discourse of Likud-compromised publications.
These firms include The Wall Street Journal, especially its editorial page, and Newsweek’s Josh Hammer. Hammer recently got engaged to an Israeli woman. There’s a long history of Americans, especially those in the media, being “assigned” Israeli wives. Is it love? Is it espionage? Is it both? Hard to say and hard to say by design.
Did you know that Ben Shapiro married an Israeli? Or that one of the producers of Tucker Carlson’s show married a woman who worked in the Israeli embassy? Come on, guys. What’s wrong with Jewish-American princesses guys? Are these Israeli gals doing the job that America’s Jewesses won’t do? Open borders, indeed, I guess.
I mean… are we really not supposed to notice?
I don’t think people understand that the Jews in America that fund Bibi don’t have to deal with any of the consequences the people in the streets are dealing with right now - what he is trying to do to the courts is a Federalist Society project and Yoram Hazony is the link to it. Yes, Bibi is the most dangerous man in the world in this goy’s humble opinion, made all the more dangerous by his willingness to use the technology of a police state to effectuate his ends.
Interestingly Netanyahu himself name-checked Hammer’s piece and The Wall Street Journal’s editorial page, which has had a long history of ethical lapses, seemingly cosigned it. (I wonder: Is Paul Gigot a closet case? Last we saw one another he flipped me off in front of a room filled of journalists. Stay classy, Paul! Do you think Gigot will still have a job when News Corp goes under from the Dominion Lawsuit?)
Rather hilariously the Wall Street Journal wound up getting fact checked by Israeli lawyers. Turns out that the people who live in Israel are tired of Israel being used to advance the interests of a global oligarchy. Who knew?
In the end this isn’t really about Israel at all but about a global effort to subvert independent fact checking authorities. It’s an attack on the sense-making apparatus which sustains civic life. It’s fashionable to call this an assault on “democracy,” but it’s really an attack on noticing and documenting.
And yet many of the same people who were a part of the hostile takeover of America’s judiciary are attempting to do it in Israel. Haaretz wrote about these efforts in 2020 and they’ve seemingly only gotten more advanced since then. Note these sorts of pieces from the Tikvah Fund.
Netanyahu may well claim that his opposition is getting foreign funding but the record shows that he’s the one getting the shekels.
America’s patience with the Likud government is diminishing daily.
Gone are the days when this sort of slavish pro-Bibi conduct would be condoned.
Now it must be called what it is. Treason.
“More for Israel” comes at the world’s expense.
It’s worthwhile to do an analysis of each of the major Bibi donors, especially the ones with ties to criming (Adelson, Wynn, Robert Kraft, Len Blavatnik, Rupert Murdoch, Les Wexner, Kravis, and is 6th from the top on the left Charles Kushner?)
We must never forget noting that Bibi got a plurality to put this government together, not a majority, and that's why Israelis are in the streets. We outnumber them and not the other way around.
